Chase bug or feature

Post by MarkoftheWild »

I am close to making a new showfile for the club to include the new LED pars I installed. I wanted to make a few scenes, switches and chases b4 doing so, but i might as well let the other DJ's use some stuff while i migrate over.

I set up a simple chase on the par page using the preprogrammed buttons. I set the macro to red, clicked the chase button set a switch with the as you see now feature and saved it to the par page.

When setting up the chase all worked fine. It would chase in a complete circle. 1 to 16, meaning that the chase would start on can 1, chase one can at a time to can 16 and start over at 1. after saving it though it reverses itself. meaning that the chase would start on can 1, chase one can at a time to can 16 and then reverses direction instead of starting at can 1. Plus it would go faster in the reverse than forward.

Weird. How and where do i send my show file so you can check it out?

Thank you

Sorry, I don´t understand how you setup your chase. Can you explain more precise again.

I setup the chase using the preprogrammed buttons that come with the American DJ LED par38 pro. I set a color using the macro button then use the chase button and save it as a switch
It may have to do with the using of the preprogrammed buttons only, I dunno

Hope this is a better explanation.

So, the "American DJ LED par38 pro" has an interal chase mode.
I don´t have these fixture on hand so I can´t test it here.

You can look at the DMX-values in the software, they have to be the same when you setup the chase with the preprogrammed button and after you have saved it to the switch.

No they are not an internal program. When i imported the showfile over from suite 1 it brought along all the preprogrammed button from the fixture profile. Something S2 does not do. I use some of theses quite frequently so it was important for me to have them.

It is a feature in S1 that I personally would like to see in S2.

I have though edited one of these buttons and all it was was easytime chase, sort of, I have tried to reproduce the chase but to no avail. I will have to view more videos i think.

I am going to skype with Simon later today/night and should have the actual showfile that i use on my home system so I can show him. Its probably easier to do so then me verbally explain it. LOL

Being in Alaska there is a 10 hour time difference so i have to coordinate my hours.

Thank You

O.K. now I finally get it, sorry for catching up so slow. ;-)

Suite 1 only create a "chase" switch with an easy step dimmer step for each fixtures.
If Suite 2 don´t import this switch correctly or mess up the order of steps after closing and reopening it´s probably a bug.
This kind of chase can be redone in Suite 2 in two minutes if you like.

Exactly! 2 minutes you say?? please show me!!!

BTW, we have a total of 28 pars. 16 above the stage, 4 used as up lights up stage. 4 up stage shooting straight down and 4 more up stage shooting out and down at different angles. So there will be a plethora of chases to program! I figure around a week or so full time!

At least its the fun part. The install wasn't exactly an easy one! LOL

Hi,

I send you an edited showfile with some chases.
Take a look and let me know...

You should use some groups for the fixtures and arrange the fixtures in the fixtures window a bit better.
All fixture on the Masterpage were on top of each other, I rearrange them a little bit to see them all.

COOL! Thank you. Yea I was watching the tutorials today and am planning to group things better as well as trying to setup the stage in the 3d visualizer

Thank You again
