Virtual Dimmer Channel for Library Editor

A Virtual Dimmer Channel for the Library Editor would be a useful addition for a more versatile programming with RGB only devices.
Is there a future for that function?

Hi,
unfortunately this was requested by another thread 3 years ago for SL2. I know this from other software as well and would be a very important feature as mentioned in the other thread.
The virtual dimmer is a channel for dimming the RGB channels depnding from the value of the virtual channel, eg:
if the RGB channel are set to R=255, G=255, B=255 and virtual channel is 50%=128 the DMX output will be R=128 (127,5), G=128 B=128 or
R=255 G=127 B=127 Dim=25% -> output R=64 (63,75), G=32 (31,5) B=32 (31,5).

For lower values the colors will fail but for most situations this would be fine....

Actually most software and DMX Hardware isn't well prepared for newer RGBW, RGBWA or CWWWA fixtures.The White and Amber Channels are not integrated in the color mixing... Is there anything planed for SL2/3?

Hi,

You can simulate a dimmer channel using the "MLT Multiply the current Level" mode of the switch button.
How it work ?
1- Create an empty switch on your RGB page.
2- Make RGB channel value to fixed 255.
3- Change the mode of the switch to "MLT Multiply the current channel level"

Now, when you activate that switch, the dimmer button of that switch works as a proportionnal dimmer on the 3 (or more) RGB channels. You can of course add Amber and White channel if you're fixture has one of them.
