Firmware Update Issues

I have just tried to open the dts dmx master pro software but I get an error message asking me to update the firmware...
I downloaded the latest hardware manager, and tried to update the firmware. The status bar gets to approx. 100% then stops and I get another error message saying the cable has been disconnected... I now have a device which says it is up to date (v1.03) but the program still wont recognise it. Whats going on?
