Storage matters & STICK KU1

Hi,
My STICK has a Mini SD card. Which I was going to replace.
I realise that Mini SD is being replaced by micro SD.
However you can stll get Mini SD cards. But in larger sizes than the supplied (if I remember correctly) 256mb.
My questions are:
Is STICK KU1 able to use the larger Mini SD cards say 1Gb or above?
Is STICK KU1 able to use all of that storage space?
Does the card need formatting?
