Maximum polygons for import?!

I would like to know what is the maximum amount of polygons a .3ds model
can have so EV wouldn´t say "Cannot import file". Nomal architecture is not a problem to import, but truss constructions I built in 3ds, always have to be split up and seperately imported, even though they are not elaborated that much. Till now it has always been trail-and-error on how big a part can be.
So whats the exact number or does this have to do with anything else? Thx :wink:

Edit: Of course I don´t mean a .3ds but a .X model.
