I/O triggering

Post by edwardo388 »

I am setting up around 20-30 contact closures to control sunlite. i know this is possible to do with combinations of the pins on the back of the controller box, the problem is making all of these different combinations. The best I have thought of is using relays to make different combinations of 4 pins. Idealy i would like to have a box that i can directly short out two pins to make a number 1-255. The box would have a pin for every switch i want.

I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone but...
Is there a unit that i can easily do this with or should i use relays?

The easy way that I have found to trigger 24 scenes, is the following:

You have on the back connector 8 ports and 1 common for all 8 ports.

Wire 6 push switches (flash), and 2 toogle switches (latch), the flash switches should be address 1,2,4,8,16,32 and the latch should be address 64, 128.

So if you have both latches off, you have 6 scenes. If you put one latch on you have another 6 scenes, put the other latch on and the last one off and you have 6 more scenes, with the 2 latches on you have another 6 scenes. This gives you a total of 24 scenes or triggers.
