Hi
midi : Akai lpd8
sunlite latest : 20150213
Sunlite BC : controller

I looked at the setup of elation midicon, and tried the same, akai lpd8 doesnt have the same features but it is still a midiconsole.
procedure :
select midi console tab.
right-click turning knob
selected general tab
add:
"control pan editor channel fader"
and the 16bit as well, MH is 16 bit placement
different turning knob
add:
and the 16bit as well, MH is 16 bit placement
"control tilt editor channel fader"
I have also tried adding the :
pan control command
and
tilt control command
but when I turn the knobs when creating or editing a switch the pan/tilt faders inside the switch editing doesnt move.
Midi commands are sent.
Using the same knobs I can control size/phasing/speed when a switch is activated.

Is it possible to use akai lpd8 for this or is it a elation feature ?
what am I doing wrong ?
whats the difference between :
"control pan editor channel fader"
and
pan control command

TIA
Steen

Hi Steen,

This could be one of two things.

1) You need to have the correct property mode assigned to the channel, ie dimmer or easy step. If nothing is assigned and channel is switched off nothing will move.

2) The editor may not be in focus, ie selected. Make sure the correct editor is selected and then try.

If you're still having problems, send me over your show file and I will investigate further for you.

Hi
Thanks for your reply.

I can use my midi lpd8 to program pan,tilt,16bitpan,16 bittilt when programming switches.
I have created a "midi activation" for "select next fixture".
and using 4 knobs to control pan+tilt, and 16 bit, and 1 knob to do focus.

This is working fine. Its easier to use physical knobs instead of mouse.

a)
is it possible to program palettes using the midi controller ?
if, then how ?
b)
my purpose is to create a quick onsite program where I light up normally the ceiling. The program is used between dinner and dance, welcome situation ..
In that situation I want to create very slow transitions from one switch to another.

Can I create long fadetimes between switch shifts ?
or do I have to create a whole scene and program the slow transistions between the scenes instead ?

I do like to use switches because I find it very fleksible.

TIA
Steen

Hi Steen,

You can can control the colour wheel & pan/tilt in the palettes along with selecting fixtures as long as the palettes window is in focus. But unfortunately there are no midi commands to create new palettes, it is a good idea though and something we will consider for the future.

Yes you can create long fade time in Sunlight, this will be the best way.

Hope that helps
