INPUT port connected to Vdd or GND?

Hello. I'd like to have a confirmation.
In the hardware manual, http://www.dmxsoft.com/manuals/?oem=SUNLITE&na=gY7
it's written:
"INPUT PORTS
To use the input ports, you must create a connection between the VDD pin and any port."
And in the easy stand alone manual about SUIDI6:
http://www.dmxsoft.com/manuals/index.php?langman=en
"To use the input ports, you must create a connection between the Ground pin and the ports (see the picture below). "
ANd in the software ESA:
http://www.dmxsoft.com/manuals/index.php?langman=en
The picture show connection to GND.
So I'd like which one is the true one, because usually GND is not Vdd.
Thanks you for your reply.
