[midi] Connection Lost & Sunlite Hangs.

Post by racso »

Hello i have posted this problem and a nother problem about 5 weeks ago in a seperate topic i had created,
the main problem in that topic is solved but the other problem not, a very anoying one.
back to the problem.

from the beginning of sunlite 2 i have the problem when i'm using the BCF-2000 Berhinger Midicontroller in combination with sunlite 2 the software hangs at random moments.
the light effects wil remain funtioning but no new commands are prossible, not with the midi controller but also not with the mouse in sunlite it self.
If i turn of the Midicontroller on the moment everything hangs, the software reposonse again.
This happens on all versions of sunlite 2 on this moment ( including the last build of 13-12-2010 ).
I have tested with a complete new BCF-2000 to exclude a bug in the hardware.
Both controllers have the firmware version of 1.10.
i have tested on my notebook also but the problem remains.
sunlite doens't crash so i have no crashlog or something.
Here below i will put some Setup information, So i hope there will be enough information to reproduce the problem.

PC specifications:
Windows XP SP 2
Sunlite 2 build 13-12-2010
sunlite USB-2 BC firmware 1.07
Behringer BCF-2000 firmware version 1.10 ( USB connected ).

if there is any debug mode for sunlite so i can provide more specifc information, tell me so i can help you.

Kind Regards

Do you have access to a windows 7 machine to test?

Try installing the BCF drivers from the Behringer website to see if this help.

Let me know how you get on

I have found the problem, it was a hardware problem.

The Stroboscoop make's some noise on the 230V supply of the midicontroller,
so the usb communication was disconnected sometimes, changing phase of the stroboscoop was the solution !

Thanks anyway.

What also helps most time if PC or connected Controllers give problems is using a UPS.
If you go for a better one then they have filters and regulate the power to an exceptable level all the time rather then been offline and just go online if main power fails.

I always use a UPS for Digital Consols also, just to be on the save side :)
