Data transmission problem??

Post by GaetanP »

Hello,

I have an issue maybe with my Slesa-U7 interface or ESA software (can't say)
sometimes, either during programming in Editor or User, I have intermittant flashes
like if the interface stops sending data for a cycle. My led fixtures go to off for a short
moment, there is no latching of the last data received in it. It flashes to black then back to normal.

I have latest firmware 1.19, latest ESA app (Dec-10-2012). I have seen it using two different PC's.

I have seen it with 2 or 3 led fixtures hooked up and with a complete setup.

I mostly use ESA, so did not really validate with PRO. Tried ESA2 for a short period and the app.
crashed on me, I stopped using it.

How can I troubleshoot that kind of problem to narrow down the cause?
Serial # 104972

Also is there some documentation about the tabs in the Tools application. Like the DMX timing
tab, test tab etc...?

Thanks, Gaetan

Hi Gaetan

Try with the test tab in the tools app. Do you have the same problem?

The tools app can be found in the hardware manual here:
http://www.nicolaudie.com/online_manual ... TE-gY7.htm

We need to update it to include information on the DMX timings.

Hello Simon,

Sorry for the delay to answer, I have not used the interface for few months
I have tested with tools, and it still does the same. intermittant flashes. I have tried to change
some timings values, it seemed to be better with fast setting but still has the problem.

Then I tried to disable some items in the configuration, like "port" that I don't use.
After sending the configuration to the interface, it seems dead. Only the the yellow power led
is lit, all other are off and no numbers are on the seven segments display.

When I remove the memory card from the unit, OFF is flashing but as soon as I put it back
nothing is going on.

I need it next wednesday!!, is there a procedure to repair it or to re-initialize to defaults?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, a few things to try:
-replace or format the memory card
-re-write the firmware
-start in bootloader mode (info attached, the same applies to the SIUDI 7)

Simon thanks a lot for the procedure. My unit is back alive.

About the flashes, when I use the interface in stand alone, it appears to be fine.
Can it be a problem with the usb input either of the computer or the interface?
Would you suggest changing DMX timing values until there are no more flashes?
Are there "dangerous or minimum" value I should not set the interface to?

Thanks again.

Try changing the DMX timing values and try the latest version of Suite 2 as there have been a few optimisations

Let me know if it's still not working properly

Try with tools.exe and put a DMX tester to see if the DMX is dropping out or if it's a problem with your lighting fixture

do you think routing SIUDI's dmx output to it's input and watching the numbers in Tools/ Test tab/ Input section will make me see a dropout?
If the flash is 1/10th second it only happens 3 times in 4 hours, it would certainly make a good staring contest

Unfortunately a DMX tester would be the only way to get to the bottom of the problem. If you're pretty sure it's an interface problem I can run a tester on it at our office. Send me an e-mail and I can create an RMA
