In Virtualized Environment

I've got a new computer I'm trying to move all my apps from an old Pentium onto.
- i5 processor
- 6 Gb RAM
- Windows 7 Pro (64-bit)
I've got an SUIDI5 SC USB controller.
I'm trying to run Sunlite Suite in a virtual envronment running Windows XP Pro (32-bit) with 2 Gb RAM and 2 processors.
In MS Windows XP Mode:
- The USB seems to install.
- Easy View starts up with an error message because MS XP Mode doesn't support "3D gaming" programs (or apparently 3D CADD or equipment controlling programs either. Thanks Microsoft.)
In VMWare Workstation:
- Easy View runs (at least in XP Mode.
- The USB device seems to "install" then "something happens" and it fails when the program is started. (Though when I first installed the program it seemed to work until the environment was closed down.)
The next step I'm thinking of taking is to reinstall XP Pro and Sunlite again in a new environment.
Has anyone elase tried this and how did you get it to work?
