Take X-Y

I am really confussed by the Take X-Y buttons.even after 4 years of using the software I am still driven mad!! ( I have read the manual)
1. I do not understand why they keep jumping back to an orginanal position after a move.
2. Somes times ( I do not know why) I get a very LARGE yellow Cross Hair when I am trying to move the position. Why do I get this Cross Hair and what does it mean
3. The graphics could be better as it is some times hard to see when a fixture is selected.
4. Without even double clicking the light beam seems to reset when you select
