PC Upgrade=Performance?

I´m thinking of upgrading my PC (3,2 GHz, Geforce 7900GTX, 2GB Ram) with a Core 2 Duo E4300 @ E6600. Will it improve performance in Easy View as well or is the GPU the limiting factor in Easy View? I built a sports arena in 3dsmax, put in appr. 150 lights and would like to place some more, but with only half of the existing ones on, performance hits the ground only in strobeflash mode its ok. So will this upgrade help EV to display all fixtures on without droping to 4 fps?
