new to software based dmx controller

Hi, im seriously thinking of taking the plunge into a software based controller, i have experience with high end lighting desks (hogIII etc) but really like the fact that i can used the pc, (and the touchscreen) for control, the other things was to save lamp life on the arc lamps being able to plot ' blind' with the visuals, then theres the fact that you can plot cues with your client beside you away from the venue, now im in Australia and such technology hasnt taken of yet, was wondering if people could give some input as to the plus and minus's of such tenhnology, how stable is sunlite, (i hear the hog pc, is unstable crashes easily and requires heaps of processing power) HELP
