I don't know about anyone else, but I find it really irritating in live applications when I have to keep opening the audio analysis application constantly to tap the BPM. It's no use typing it in becuase half the time the bands change speed, and the audio analysis can never be 100% accurate, so ever...

...oh yea and your question about changing patters automatically, this can be done by creating a cycle (the blue button) then clicking the different scenes, then ajusting the time you wish to wait between each scene in the cycle window.
